The original Diamond Chair, created by Italian sculptor and furniture designer Harry Bertoia, was made from an in intricate, moulded steel lattice.
With a backrest that looks like the skeletal contours of a landscape simulation on some modern 3-Dimensional computer graphics software, this work of art proved to be a huge hit when first unveiled in the mid-90s.
Bertoia's quoted as saying that the Diamond Chair, among the rest of his collection, is “mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through”.
