9 Ways to Conquer Insomnia
With an extremely fast lifestyle that the current generation in Singapore is having, we tend to stress ourselves to the extent of affecting our sleeping patterns. Having a good night’s sleep is essential for us to be able to function more efficiently and effectively at work and at home. The sad thing is our stress levels are shooting far off the charts that our brains seem to be still on the go even though our bodies are already shouting “Enough!”

If you are suffering from insomnia, here are 9 helpful tips to get you to sleep more soundly in no time.

1) Stick to a regular sleeping pattern. Sleeping erratically can lead body’s sleeping patterns to fluctuate greatly and thereby leading to insomnia.

2) Have a ritual before going to bed. By following a set of rituals leading up to you hitting the sack, you psyche up your mind that you are about to go to sleep. This allows your body to gradually slow down to allow you to get a good night’s sleep when you get to bed.

3) Leave work elsewhere. If you need to bring your work home, ensure that it doesn’t reach into the bedroom. Seeing the things you need to do can compel your mind to go back working, thereby completely wrecking your sleeping patterns.

4) Get short power naps. If you feel lethargic and sluggish towards the evening, get no more than 20 minutes of nap time. This would be more than enough for your body to reboot while ensuring that you are able to sleep peacefully throughout the night.

5) Don’t exercise before bedtime. Exercise can get your blood pumping and make you feel more energized. This being the case, it is advisable not to exercise 2-3 hours before bedtime.

6) Have light dinners. Eating a heavy meal close to bedtime can lead certain functions in your body to continue working at its optimum, even while you are sleeping, leaving you feeling restless.

7) Go easy on the caffeine. Caffeine is considered to be a stimulant. Instead of relaxing you, it actually wakes up your body, causing you to have a problem sleeping at night.

8) RELAX! Too much stress can result in insomnia. Spend some time doing relaxing activities such as yoga and meditation. Not only would it rejuvenate your mind and body, but it would also lower down your stress level.

9) Invest in a comfortable mattress. One of the main reasons why people have a hard time sleeping is that they are just simply not comfortable in bed. There are a number of furniture stores over the internet that offers a wide variety of mattress brands and types. Many of these online furniture stores even offer great discounts that are well within your budget.
