The Basic Laws of Feng Shui On Ideal Bed Positioning
The following is a simple guide to the basic laws of Feng Shui with regards to bed placement. Though, most of the time, due to space constrain or "aesthetic" reasons, we cant strictly follow this rules. But for those who are really interested and want to find out more, here are some basic rules.

- A mirror must never reflect the bed from the opposite side

- The bed must never be directly under a window

- The bed must be accessible from both sides, that is, one side must not be against a wall

- Beds must not face a bathroom door nor share a common wall with the toilet

- They must not be directly under a beam since beams are considered to be oppressive

- Must not be under a bathroom or above a kitchen
Beds can face cabinets or wardrobes but not open shelves which are considered to be poison arrows

- The foot of the bed must not be directly facing the door since that is considered to be the coffin position

- A good solid wall at the back of the bed is important

- Balancing energy on both sides of the bed and proper grounding in the form of bedside tables or nightstands help to maintain balance in life as well

- No sharp angles must point to the bed while sleeping-ensure that you keep sharp pieces of furniture or accessories in a manner that keeps the edges turned away

- The beds must be in a position that your back never faces the door while sleeping

The concept of using the Commanding Position Principle implies relying on the bed placement relative to the door rather than the compass direction of the bed. It must be as far as possible from the door and preferably on the opposite side. For instance if the door is on the eastern side the bed must be placed on the farthest western side. The longer the gap between the door and the bed, the higher the control the person will have over his space and his life. Moreover, it is preferable to ensure that the sleeper on the bed is in a commanding position to get a full view of the room. The larger the expanse of his line of vision of the bedroom, the more his life will expand, breathe and grow. A view of the door from the bed becomes important to stay in command rather be uncertain fearful and constantly on edge. Inability to see the door will mean being on edge, stressed, and restless, all of which combine to create an imbalance.

Once the Feng Shui principles have been followed, the natural and most comfortable placement of the bed becomes the most suitable position.

Additionally, the use of pastel colors of bed linen, regular changing of sheets and covers, and using pure fabrics like cotton and silk, are all in keeping with Feng Shui principles for bedrooms that help to bring in positive “chi” and preserve health, happiness and luck.
